Independent Candidate for Governor of Maine • Maine • Statewide
Derek Levasseur is a lifelong Mainer, born and raised in Lewiston to a Franco-American family with deep roots in the state's mill town heritage. After graduating from the University of Maine, Derek built a successful career in small business management and community development, helping revitalize downtown districts across central Maine. His firsthand experience watching working families struggle while Augusta remained gridlocked by partisan politics inspired him to pursue public service. As a selectman and later as a regional economic development coordinator, Derek earned a reputation for bringing people together across political divides to solve real problems. He has worked with Republicans, Democrats, and fellow independents to expand broadband access to rural communities, support Maine's fishing and forestry industries, and advocate for property tax relief for seniors. Derek is running for Governor because he believes Mainers deserve a leader who answers to them—not to party bosses or special interests. He and his wife, Marie, live in Auburn, where they raised three children and remain active in their local parish and community organizations.
